ARK Web Designer / Developer

ARK is seeking a passionate and experienced Web Designer/Developer to assist the Marketing & Communications committee. You will be responsible for designing and developing features for our website, as well its maintenance.

The ideal candidate has experience in both web design and web development, preferably with some experience in Wordpress and Elementor. They should be comfortable with all aspects of design and development.

Responsibilities:
Gather website requirements by analyzing business problems and formulating solutions
Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
Designing, implementing, and deploying new features and functionality for our Wordpress website
Improve landing page performance and metrics through testing
Prepare technical documents and other required specifications

Skills:
Strong knowledge of PHP and MySQL
Excellent knowledge of Wordpress - custom theme and plugin development
Solid understanding of front-end technologies - HTML, CSS, Javascript
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, e.g. Git, SVN
Familiarity with design tools - e.g. Figma, Sketch
Great at analysis and decision making, with reliable project management abilities
Good written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience with a nonprofit or charity will be an asset
Familiarity with marketing concepts and communication flows will be an asset

Experience and education:
A degree, diploma, or certificate from a post-secondary institution with a concentration in Software Development, Computer Science, or a related field, or
Equivalent work experience
